The Beginning
- Rorick and Diane Ward, owners of Soggy Paws L.L.C. After living in homes in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Placitas, we moved to our home in Cedar Crest 4.5 years ago, and we love it here! Rorick previously ran a business called DynaMo’s Blasting for 9 years, but to reduce stress and improve our quality of life, we decided to start a business

Rorick previously ran a business called DynaMo’s Blasting for 9 years, but to reduce stress and improve our quality of life, we decided to start a business centered around something we both adore – DOGS! An amazing opportunity arose, allowing us to work so close to home in Tijeras, NM, at a location that was near and dear to our hearts (our dogs were High Plains Clipper customers). Thus, we opened SOGGY DOGGY in October 2025! We will be in this lovely location until March 31, 2026, after which we will move to our permanent location in Edgewood. Once in Edgewood, we plan to offer pet boarding services and dog behavior modification training, along with our top-notch pet grooming. Erin’s love for animals runs deep—rooted in her upbringing in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, where compassion, hard work, and community were a way of life. Over the past 20+ years, Erin has dedicated her life to animal rescue, rehabilitation, and professional grooming, helping thousands of beloved pets look and feel their very best while also finding forever homes for those in need.
As a highly experienced, multi-certified professional groomer, Erin brings not only skill and precision, but patience and empathy to every grooming session. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, giving her a unique ability to understand animal behavior, ease anxiety, and create a calm, positive experience—especially for nervous or special-needs pets. Your fur baby is never “just another appointment” to Erin; they are treated with the same care and respect as her own.
Erin made the heartfelt decision to leave her rescue and grooming shop in North Carolina to relocate to New Mexico, where she could be closer to her young grandchildren—bringing with her decades of experience, an impeccable reputation, and a lifelong commitment to animal well-being.
Beyond grooming, Erin is a true renaissance spirit. She has performed professionally as a musician—providing backup vocals, flute, and percussion for the band Little Horse—and enjoys outdoor adventures like kayaking, even winning the New River kayak race in 2021. This blend of creativity, discipline, and passion shines through in everything she does.
